Not everyone is enthralled with all things New England Patriots, and there are a few among us who really don’t care about the Red Sox potential to claim their fourth World Series win since breaking the curse of the Bambino in ’04. If you’re not the sports-minded type, you may be concerned that there is nothing to do at this no-longer-summer-but-not-quite-the-holiday-season time of year.
Fear not; we’ve got your back at the BBC with all kinds of fun stuff going on this month. Here is just a sampling of what’s happening in addition to our usual lineup of trivia nights, karaoke nights and live music.
Celebrate RocktoberFest with the BBC. On Sunday of Columbus Day Weekend, our own John Morelli and Walrus Gumboot, the most epic Beatles cover band ever, take over Strawberry Field in Falmouth Heights for the 12th Annual Lennon Fest. The rockin’ good times continue all month long – actually all autumn long, maybe even into winter – with Acoustic Lounge which showcases a curated selection of local musicians performing original music. Hosted by Macalla, the fab Plymouth-based band, Acoustic Lounge is back for its second year. Catch Acoustic Lounge every Monday night, alternating between our downtown Plymouth pub and the Sandwich location.
But wait. There’s more.
Also back for the second year is Musicians Underground on Thursday evenings at our Sandwich location. Hosted by Brian Kerins of Flydown, Musicians Underground is part open mic night/part planned performance with Flydown jumping in for sets here and there before turning the mic over to other local musicians and artists.
If you prefer your entertainment on the funny side, we have big news. The BBC Comedy Corner at our Walpole location has proven so popular that we’re expanding it to additional locations. With the riotous Pat Collins, the noted Boston-area standup comic, as emcee, you just know you’ll be in for a blast. Join us for Comedy Corner at the Cedarville pub on October 14th and in Sandwich on the 21st.
If you’ve already started planning your Halloween Costume, you’ll be happy hear that virtually all of our pubs will have a creepy celebration. Pembroke, Walpole and Cedarville have already solidified their lineup of music and prizes. Up in Danvers, our party-planning G.M. has a family-friendly Harry Potter Day on tap for October 28th, perfect timing for your little goblin to strut his magical stuff. The good thing – well, one of them – about your friendly neighborhood BBC is that you can rest assured that you’re always welcome to wear a costume when you visit, even when it’s not actually Halloween.
Now go forth and have fun!
