If you’re visiting select BBC locations the evening of December 14th and a police officer walks up to your table says, “What can I get you?” don’t panic. You’re (probably) not in trouble. The officer is just doing his, or her, job for the day.

And if said police officer’s service is a little, um, off, please consider tipping them… generously… anyway, because while they’re there “to serve” you – literally – they’re also working to serve people with intellectual disabilities by donating 100% of their tips to Special Olympics Massachusetts.

Here’s the deal:

Our Falmouth, Hyannis, Sandwich, Westford and Worcester pubs are participating in Tip-A-Cop, a program which supports Special Olympics. The women and men in blue will be acting as your servers for the evening (fear not; we’ll have trusty BBC-ers at the ready to help get things right). All of the tips they earn – every penny of it – will go to Special Olympics.

‘Tis the season to give back, so eat, drink and be merry, and tip generously!
