We here at the BBC don’t like to boast… We just love talking about our new menu items, beers on tap, musical guests and every other event whenever we can with whoever will listen. Our dedication to fresh catches paired with perfect pints and feel-good food makes us want to tell anyone within earshot how bloody great our pubs are! Of course, if you don’t believe us, come visit us at any one of our 14 locations and we’ll do our best to persuade you.
If you need a little push to get you going, tune in to the local fishing show On The Water, where we made a guest appearance on their recent episode “Trophy Tautog Trip”. On the Water’s Chris Megan and Jimmy Fee teamed up with Captain Bob Cope of Full Ahead Sportfishing and Tom Daffin of fishinfeversportfishin.com to see what treasures Cape May, NJ had to offer. Once they caught their limit of fresh tautog, Chris and Jimmy brought the haul over to our Falmouth location, where Chef Pablo Headley worked his magic.
Fish tacos marinated with a fresh Carribean jerk and herb rub, paired with a side of rice and black beans, and green beans flavored with fresh scallion and thyme was Chef Headley’s flawless first tautog entrée. Pickled vegetables and avocados topped the fish taco of the day. It looked so perfect we almost didn’t want to eat it (that thought was fleeting, of course). For another dish, classic fish and chips, Chef Headley fried the tautog to a perfect golden-brown and served it with not just a generous portion of fries but also onion rings. Porque no los dos?
The third delicious dish, Falmouth BBC manager Jessica Hopkins tells On the Water, was their own special take on the fresh catch of the day. The grilled tautog sat on a bed of fresh vegetables including tomatoes, asparagus, and artichokes. All three of these mouthwatering kitchen concoctions will be on their new menu, so be sure to check them out and pair with any one of the 26 beers on tap! Believe us, it will be worth it.
This episode aired Sunday, January 28 and Saturday, February 3 on NBC Sports Boston.
